The reasons I like them in the heavy slot is that they make for a good "all purpose" heavy and I can still carry a regular fusion.
Initially I was like you, "why are Linear Fusions still heavy??" I said.
However, with their RoF and mag size buffs, they make a formidable boss burner while still holding enough ammo to take down a pesky Hobgoblin or two.
On the one hand I'd like them to be Energy weapons, but on the other hand I'm glad they are still heavy and carry the power that they do.

Fair point! Thank you for your opinion, it is valid and I understand completely. Personally I would love to use them more, I just have such a hard time justifying using them when something like sleeper or whisper exist in the same slot. I've been looking for a heavy weapon worth throwing major or boss spec mods on, I'll have to try out a good LFR and see how it plays out!

Honestly, I wish there were far more LFRs. Both energy and heavy variants, as well as multiple archetypes. Heck, why doesn't Omolon make an LFR?
-
And yes we haven't seen much significant variation in archetypes. One idea I've seen brought up is of a kinetic fusion. Although it's certainly hard to imagine how that would work exactly given the physics and science of how a fusion works... lol. Maybe the rumored rail guns will be like this?

Rail guns would be a cool Kinetic fusion alternative. Would be cool to see variation in number of bolts per archetype or manufacture to give each a different feel. One way that could allow for one to carry two fusions, or a fusion and an energy weapon would be to open up the "kinetic"and "energy" slots to allow any combo of weapon types and energies. Obviously leave heavy weapons as heavy.
-
Well put! They seem to be the foundry most likely to make a weapon like that. I hope the Black Armory update gives us more. It would be cool to see raid LFR's introduced.

Yes and yes. ... although I'm slacking on the Raid right now. Either way, variety is good to have.
