The problem with modern scary movies is that they only consists of jump scares. A vast majority of them hang onto this concept making it nearly impossible to find great scary movies. That and as I get older, they become more and more implausible in my head. The other night I was watching the original Halloween , and I just kept repeating to my wife “Stabby stabby” but with a lisp. Maybe I’ve outgrown their far fetched plots.
With all that said, A Quiet Place isn’t bad. Definitely better than the remake of IT.

Also, how have you been buddy? Haven't talked to you in like two years.

Yeah I’ve been good. Still down here in Miami. About to take a 3 week vacation to Hawaii so my daily grind is paying off. How about you? Fantasy football treating you good?

Good to hear! I'm taking next week off but I'm just going to stay home. Maybe hit some breweries. Then have my 40th birthday party next Saturday. I won the league last year but I'm getting stomped this year. DTL is undefeated so far after so many losing seasons.

There a a lot of contemporary horror films that rely more on mood than jump scares and are excellent horror movies. The VVitch, It Follows, and Hereditary to name a few.
