It’s a logical fallacy called belief persistence. Essentially once the mind forms a belief it tends to keep that belief even in the face of hard evidence to the contrary...Explains a lot about politics

Let’s address the underlying issue: Now answer me this: WHY do people prefer belief persistence?

Edited by Darth Turtle: 9/17/2018 11:45:52 AMIt’s a part of our nature. I’d assume it’s a defense mechanism. We get exposed to a massive amount of information a lot of it conflicting so the mind grabs hold of one of those pieces of information. Of course I don’t know I’m a high school sophmore who’s psychology class last year was essentially a study hall that counted as an honors credit

But the reasons stated in the link above are the main causes for why people don’t like change[/quote] Why do people: desire the feeling of control, despite the fact that we humans actually have little to no control? fear uncertainty? Avoid surprises? Prefer not to experience change? Feel too ashamed to be (seen) as wrong? Fear learning?

Don’t know bro, that’s just the way things are for most people. A lot of the time change means effort, and some people aren’t willing to put in that effort because they’d rather stay with the way things are because they’ve grown comfortable that way. If you want better answers you might wanna ask a psychologist or sociologist. I’m just an engineer.
