Freaking Isabelle.
In Smash Brothers?
Of all the options, that annoying dog secretary from Animal Crossing?
There's so many better (not to mention more popular) options that could fill that spot. Dare I say, even Waluigi is a better option.
I'm so confused.

2 RepliesI would have preferred Brewster. Throwing hot coffee in peoples faces? Hell yeah! Or even the owl from the museum, summon animated fossils, bugs or fish to attack people. I kinda feel like they were just looking for more female characters from some games to throw in (games that had primarily male contestants). I think I remember something about Nintendo making the inkling girl and boy different characters in Mario Kart 8 because they were worried that people would call it sexist if they made one of them a skin of the other.

Not every newcomer reveal can be an earth shattering one, and a lot of people predicted Isabelle, only just as an echo fighter of villager. It also made sense with the Animal Crossing for Switch reveal in the same segment. There's going to be at least one more Smash Ultimate focused direct before the game launches, so watch out for that I'd say.

Animal Crossing is super popular. It’s not about who actually makes sense, it’s about who can they design a kit for that will draw in more people.

We're at 68 characters. Seems to be a bit silly to complain when the list is already so massive - and there will undoubtedly be more big reveals as we get closer to launch.
