If you want to be prestigious, you have to be selective and strict. This is common sense.
Now, is there value to this kind of dedication in general? I'd say yes. When applied to a videogame...meh, it's subjective - some want that level of engagement others do not.

You can be very nonrestrictive and still prestigious. That's why there is always a group inside the group considered better than the flock and usually considered leaders of the group
