Beta/Y1 Guardian Lone Wolf
(Edit, I misquoted - when I can find the video with the proper quote, I will post it)
the huge Ogre (over the Dam wall) in the Divide(Cosmodrome), the ??? Knights & ??? Wizards in the Grotto
The atmosphere, the gunplay/handling was spot on
The 10 year plan was intriguing
D1 Y1 was a far better game than D2 Y1 ever was
Even with the DLC quality, D1 had its strike list, Raids, chasing exotic weapons, random rolls, levelling faction, IB etc
As infuriating as it was in places - I never got bored/gave up hope of it achieving greatness
it still left off in Y3 in a good place (it's still a better game than D2 Y1)
(Sadly Bungle started chasing more profit)
D2 vanilla was a dire reboot, lacking in both atmosphere, depth, replayability & charm, (Bungie showed no respect for D1 players) ....what followed (Osiris/Warmind) were both insulting/weak DLC
Forsaken is the last roll of the dice
It better be amazing (and not just for a week ....but still feel strong in 6-8 months time)

Cheers There's another video from Destiny 1 E3 live reveal with a Bungie spokesman saying that 'everything you see you can go to' Just can't find it
I remember the "see that mountain" quote
I remember that too. When Todd Howard showed off Skyrim and not one at Bungie ever said it. At least get your quotes right. They said "it's all playable terrain". Which wasn't true either but -blam!-ing hell stop qouting the Skyrim guy when talking about Destiny.

Ha I remember the playable terrain part, they were absolutely terrible for adding boundaries in their games

While I agree very strongly with the OP, I whole heartedly agree with you sir.
