I don’t think they are the same species but I believe they are similar. I think at least I hope the ahamkara look like a stereotypical dragon and the worm gods are what they say, worms. But I don’t think the ahamkara ally themselves with the light or the dark I think the ahamkara are a part of the nine. And the worm gods are the harbingers of the deep
