Okay so I’m trying to learn this as I go. After checking in my detailed network statistics is says: Download speed- latency 54ms Upload speed- wireless strength 100% Packet loss- (blank) MTU- 1480 Please forgive my ignorance on this topic. I just am not sure what the information means to me and what speeds are relevant.

Edited by RedPhoenix HD: 8/29/2018 11:59:04 PMYou pay for a certain bandwidth from your internet provider. What bandwidth (what some people erroneously call "speed") are you paying for? - there is an upload speed and download speed. Second, while it is downloading you should see "speed" notations in the corner of the row that the download occupies in the download Queue. What is it showing? Are your download, upload, and packet loss readings all blank in the Detailed Network Report? There should be numbers listed in there.

Oh okay I am starting to understand things a little more. So the speed test says ping is 140ms, download is 2.21 mbps, and upload is 0.57mbps. The download queue is showing ~5 mb/s. I was actually able to locate a wire so I can use a wired connection. It has helped a bit but I’m starting to gather that my internet is just that slow (please correct me if I’m wrong or going off in left field, lol) I really appreciate you and @Blump ‘s help with this!

Edited by RedPhoenix HD: 8/30/2018 12:41:07 AMIf you are only getting 2 Mb/s average, then yes that is pretty slow. The ~5Mb/s on the download queue is probably bouncing up and down a bit - it's based on calculated speed and not actual. Using these approximate numbers, let's do a little math... The update is 34 GB, which is 34000 MB (MegaBytes) Your speed is in Mb/s (Megabits/s) 1 MByte = 8 Mbits , therefore 34000 MB = 272000 Mbits at 2Mb/s that would take 136000 seconds = 2267 minutes = 38 hours at 5Mb/s it would be... 54400 seconds = 907 minutes = 16 hours You have been downloading for 27 hours(ish) so I am guessing you are getting the avg of 2 Mb/s with some fluctuation and possibly even stopping here and there due to wireless interruptions. You probably still have a good 10 hours at that speed, unless it increases for you with the new wired connection. There, that's your networking/math lesson for today LOL :) Just as an appendum ... if you are truly getting only 2 Mb/s down and 0.5 Mb/s up, I would recommend not playing any PvP activities. You can actually receive restrictions and bans for poor internet quality. Just a heads up.

Oh gosh, thank you for the breakdown on the math! Really helps with perspective. There has been a few interruptions in the downloading process such as falling asleep and console shutting down as well as being away at work 8/9 hours. Despite the fact I have been turning on the console any chance I have while I am home, I am realizing I loosely specified my time range and slightly embarrassed for being a little drastic with the length of time spent on the download 😅. I would say it’s roughly been close to 10 hours cumulative time. Thank you for the heads up about the pvp! I honestly was not aware. Fortunately my buddies I play with fairly regularly have not mentioned experiencing any issues due to my connectivity so perhaps I may be a slightly inaccurate on the “speeds” Either way though, I do now want any issues for anyone on my behalf and thank you so much for the heads up as well as your time and knowledge!! Best regards and happy gaming :)

Go to www.speedtest.net to check your speed. I’d also recommend switching to a wired connection.
