Hmm could be interesting but I do like the exclusivity of the competitive weapons. I’d be in favor of a system that allows something similar to this for all the pinnacle crucible awards as long as it’s doesn’t ruin the exclusivity of it.

The problem with rank based exclusive weapons is that it tilts PVP in favor of prior winners, so unless those winners stow their often-OP PVP trophy gear for balanced competition, the odds will always be stacked in the higher ranking player's favor, not even factoring their superior game play skills. So now novice players get to walk into gun fights using muskets while the pro's are sporting next-gen automatic assault rifles. Does anyone else see an issue with this? Unless Bungie provides alternative means of earning the same weapons all players regardless of their win/loss record, rank based exclusive PVP gear only guarantees that PVP participants will never see a fair fight.

Exactly this.
Hmm could be interesting but I do like the exclusivity of the competitive weapons.
I understand the sentiment, but next to no one getting something is just as problematic as next to everyone getting it, as in both scenarios the reward is pointless for a majority of players, either because it was too easy to get and therefore holds no value or because it’s too hard to get and therefore attempting to get it is a waste of time. I’d rather have a scenario where those who get the weapon at first have an advantage over those who get the weapon later (the legendary vs exotic variant), but where more than a fraction of a percent of people are obtaining the reward at all. The exotic version of the weapon could be more easily accessible, but still difficult to get. Perhaps instead of <1% of people getting the legendary version, around 10% of people could end up getting the exotic version through whatever means Bungie decides.
