I’m still trying to figure out why a sword is a heavy and not a special like shotguns

In Destiny the only available swords were exotic and they had powerful abilities that warranted them being power weapons. I think Bungie just stuck swords there because they've always been there.

Uh.. In destiny 1? In destiny 1 there were 4 exotic words, and 4 legendaries. All swords in D1 were strong, with deep ammo reserves and were indeed qaulitifed to be in the heavy slot.

There were still 7 legendary swords though. I know they have been there but it’d would make sense to me. Legendary swords in special slot exotics in heavy
