But that doesn't make any sense. They decided to make a relationship a part of the story, so who the other person is does have bearing on it. The gender of the other person shouldn't matter, but apparently to some people it does. Are you suggesting that it would have been better to just never give the identity of her partner? I fail to see how that makes a romantic story better. It's one thing to say that the story shouldn't have had a romance element to it (personally I would have preferred that), but it's entirely different to say that they shouldn't reveal anything about the second half of the romance. That's kind of an important element. What you decide is or is not a relevant detail is telling.

I don't see why we needed to know any of it. It did nothing to help us with regard to our overall mission. Nor was it entertaining in any significant way, e.g: comical, etc. Like the OP said, it felt forced.

  • Ok, so you have a problem with the romance part not adding anything interesting (at least how it was written). That we can agree on.

  • Cool. Btw, I don't mind if someone disagrees with whatever I say as long as they make a valid and pertinent argument or ask such questions, which you did. So thank you.

  • You can't really disagree with someone unless you fully understand their position.

  • True, to a degree. Although it's not always an absolute. There are few absolutes in reality.
