At this point they should just keep a running tally of pve and pvp kills across all characters for every weapon in your vault or collection. I don't even know why they really separated them to begin with.
If Charlamagne can track all this information I don't know why Bungie can't just do it in-game for us.

Exactly, which is why they need to just combine them and track total kills with every weapon in Collection/Vault.
