I'm about 150ish kills into my Jade Rabbit catalyst upgrade. Here are some thoughts for my fellow JR-using guardians: - More assists. While using Jade Rabbit, my kill vs assist ratio has leaned much farther into the "assist" side, since other guardians are able to clean up faster than the rate of fire for JR allows. - Patience is key. You are right that you can get out-gunned at scout ranges by pulse rifles, especially GL and VW. The best thing to do is realize when you can't win the gun fight and leave the engagement or reposition and try again. Don't stubbornly get yourself killed. Play smart and use cover correctly. - Always think sniper-range. Because it's is so easy to get outclassed by GL, always pick sniper lanes as your preferred position. Make sure you can duck into cover quickly. Never be out in the open. - Have a short-range weapon as your secondary. I always run Hero's Burden (the IB submachine gun). Royal Dispensation II and Mob Justice are good submachine gun alternatives, too. However, just whatever weapon/class you prefer. You just need something to deal with close engagements, because JR is going to get you killed. - Inconsistent accuracy. This is the case of most scouts in PvP. Be prepared that there will be times when your bullets do not register as precision or don't register at all. Sure, flinch can be a factor. However, even without taking damage and flinch is off the table, your bullets will baffle you at times. You will have other guardians run away with 1% health and you will be unable to land that final shot for seemingly no reason. I don't know of any other weapon type that has this issue. - Jade Rabbit still needs a buff. I think anyone who gives JR a real shot will still come away saying it's disadvantaged against almost anything else. The catalyst's bump to stability (and nothing else) is a bit of a joke too, especially when you compare it to GL's catalyst (with a major range boost and Hidden Hand added).

 • This is good advice. I completed my catalyst and I can comfortably say that i'm having a hard time putting the weapon down. A few points i would add: Do the catalyst on hunter with knucklehead radar. this makes a huge difference. The time to aim down sights is very slow, so being able to stay in that view and wait for your enemy to turn the corner is huge. Bungie on crucible radio has said many times that the person who gets the first shot usually wins. Its not that bad at medium ranges it seems that way when you start out using it, but once you start to adapt to the gun's quirks it can hold down that space effectively in many situations. Its good at shutting down supers i found it more effective than most weapons at taking down a traveling super fast. I believe this is really because of the fate of all fools perk. This won't save you from a hammer throw to the face, but may save your team from hammer throws to their faces. Multikills and Lance the fate of all fools perk works nicely if you're at range and flanking. i'm not sure if its the high-impact or the flinch it inflicts, but it seems like i can pick off a team very fast before they even know they're getting hit. I got my first "we ran out of medals" using this gun. At range this has the potential to melt teams. It can hold its own against your average GL user. First shot is critical to success. I think the gun has a steep learning curve to it. I'm not sure if its the handling being muddy or that the fate of all fools perk is critical to getting competitive TTK. i just know that after 250 kills its become a good anti-meta choice in the right hands.

Maintaining radar almost 24/7 would made managing JR's weaknesses a little easier.

 • Agree with everything but the last point. Jade Rabbit is a counter-sniping weapon in pvp. It just seems weak because their is no real need for what is it’s real strength.

 • Fair enough. It is a counter-sniping weapon...except nobody snipes except me anymore (hence, your "no real need" statement).
