Complete any active steps of the Nascent dawn quest, several steps block stems

Ok, in my case the step I am on wants me to locate a cage in the descent. Since I can't use my resonate stems to complete that step, how do I proceed?

Interesting. Just completed a step, now the loot cache in ma'dam area. 2/5, I think. Thanks -wish there was a notice. Don't have time to binge complete a lot of stuff.
