Now ive never gone flawless in trials, even in D1, but I still believe only the best get rewarded, giving tokens out for losing would just allow people to lose until they get everything and thats no way to play trials. Your motivation to keep playing trials is so that one day you'll be good enough to get that gear, which is why it feels rewarding when you finally get it.

yeah butting getting maybe 5 tokens for every 3-5 attempts would be fair wouldn't it at least it would offer the losing side something.
-
You eventually have enough token to get some gear though then people will just infuse milestone gear into their newly earned trials gear and boom, high level trials gear by losing every match

Trials is never even available in my area. Population in the event is that low. The problem with your " lose and get nothing" approach is that you just don't get participation. I've never even played Trials. It's a supremely unpopular game mode in D2.
-
I believe the population is so low not due to the non existent participation rewards, but for the fact that the trials game mode itself isnt all that great anymore, I believe it should still be 3v3.
-
You could be right. I'm no Trials expert. It did seem weird though to take an unpopular 3v3 mode and make it 4v4. The OP is right though... if you never get anything for playing you just won't play. I mean, it's a game people paid for. They aren't getting"something for nothing" like some people think, they would just be getting something to reward them for buying the game and playing the mode. Hell, I bet if they made end of match drops just rng like in regular crucible in D1, most of the cheating would just go away. Like everyone used to say in D1, "Who cares? Rewards are the same no matter what." People seem to forget it's a video game, and an online one at that. The game is a failure if the playerbase drops.
-
Very true...I miss D1 loot system, it worked so well I have no clue why they changed it......honestly, the fall dlc will be the breaking point for me if that fails, I have major trust issues after they gave us reskin raid armor this time.

Edited by Sturm with no Drang: 5/15/2018 9:23:17 PMThat motivation also encourages players to take many unsavory means of obtaining an advantage over others. As it stands, I don’t particularly see anything rewarding enough to bring me back to playing Trials ever since I left it alone before the last Dawning event.

They deserve powerful gear for their performance. Giving a few tokens upon a loss that could eventually be used to get a random reward that drops at the softcap doesn't diminish the value of the winners rewards. My recommendation is intended to give more people a reason to stay in the playlist. More people playing trials is better for everyone.

Get enough tokens you can eventually get enough to get some trials gear and then just infuse your milestone rewards into, boom high level trials gear.

If they also brought back adept trials weapons, this would be solved. The players who are able to go flawless would still have something uniqe to show off for their efforts. Win for everyone:-D
