I agree with your first paragraph and your point about ornaments. But the put about the raid lairs gear being reskinned, unfortunately, is basically moot, or dead? We came from D1 with 4 different raids spread out over 3 years with very different gear. We have that same expectation in the 1st year on D2 but it's unrealistic and unfair of us to compare. We complain the raids lairs aren't big enough, aren't unique enough, don't connect to the story. But thry are really all 1 giant acitivity together. The story ties together about Calus and his relationship to us. They aren't bigger because they're 3ish of them in one year, and the gear is reskinned because it's thematic and I'm sure would ALL rather them spent that time on developing the annual fall DLC's and it's gear as opposed to devoting that time to the hold over content that is a raid lair. And in year 3 of these ethere will be more than D1 offered. That being said of course I too would have loved for the old raids and planets to be in D2, and for the raid lair gear to be completely unique.

  • I kinda have to disagree when it comes to the raid lairs, that's a very convenient pro-bungie excuse to give reskins and lackluster ornaments for the raid lairs, just because their related to the same story. That shouldn't stop eater of worlds from having vex themed gear as a vex themed raid lair. It's far from unfair to compare I think... The release schedule has been exactly the same as D1 thus far. D1 Vanilla/VoG in September, TDB in December, and HoW in May. Each raid/endgame activitiy gave players completely new gearsets AND weapon sets in the raids/PoE, not only that but even vanguard/crucible had a completely new set each expansion. That's 3 new armor and weapon sets across all D1 Y1 endgame activities. Compared to Leviathan in D2, you get one weapon set and two armor sets across all 3.

  • I suppose I went a bit off your point. It's fair to ask for more/more different armor seats. What's unfair is to receive a scheduled 3 raids and 9 raid lairs and ask for 12 completely different armor seats when D1 couldn't deliver on that itself or come close. I want better gear, too cuz I think most of it in D2 is trash, so HoW had what then, 5 new armor sets? Vangaurd, crucible, PoE, Trials, Flawless? And in this we get Mars, SoS, Tess, EP, and ornaments for season 3 in IB and factions. D2 definitely does more reskinning but quantity isn't exactly lacking.

  • I still don't see how that's excusable? It's indefensible, Sure quantity is there... through reskinning the same set multiple times. Faction sets are all reskinned sets, the crucible set is reskinned, the vanguard set is a reskinned set, some of the ornaments (not even piece of gear) are reskins from other sets. Even the eververse set this season is just a modified version of the Titan planetary set. And that's a debatable inclusion as it's behind an additional paywall, not something I would exactly count. Even the quality of gear across the board in D2 is far less impressive than anything in D1, even blue gear pieces in D1 were more inspired than almost anything I've seen in D2. And ornaments in D2 as a whole are practically useless besides IB, they do nothing but change the color pallet and add maybe one small geometrical element if at all (looking at FWC). I don't get why people bother to even try and defend this stuff, it's so frustrating to me. Bungie doesn't deserve it, they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt for anything, they don't deserve the fans they've had. Like, it doesn't f***ing matter how many sets you put in the game if they all look the same. At that point I'd rather bungie just not bother at all because it's insulting to tell me that this is a "new" thing to chase, when it's not. I don't know where you're getting your math from, but 3 raids with 2 lairs each is 6 raid lairs, not 9, there's 9 total activities sure. If they follow the same schedule as D1 (which they have been), then we will not see 3 full raids in D2's lifetime unless they speed things up. And even with that, it's completely fair to assume that each one would have it's own unique armor/weapon set. Otherwise what is the point of running one raid or lair over the other? You have the unfortunate convenience of knowing that it doesn't matter what raid/lair you do, you're always going to get the same gear. So if you don't like the current yearly raid set, then you're shit out of luck until the next "full" raid comes along. There are plenty of devs around that have no problem adding new items, gear, weapons and stuff to their game on a monthly, or even sometimes a weekly basis. And these teams I wager are much smaller than Bungie. They're out of excuses.

  • If they somehow meshed Leviathan raid and the 2 lairs together into one raid, it'd be one lengthy raid. As far as I know, Val Ca'uor is the biggest pain out of all the Leviathan bosses.
