Grab some Suzuki books. They’re not flashy or fun, but they’ll take you from beginner to competent pretty quickly. Once you feel comfortable with the instrument you can branch out to more interesting and enjoyable pieces.
The first two books should put you out about £30. I play the cello, and after going through the two equivalents for my instrument I was fine to move on to real music.

I've heard about them. Ill ask my teacher for them because he might have some. If not, I'll buy it. I can read sheet music so learning the music by ear will be a bit tough since it's not telling me specifically what note I need to play.
