You just said you wanted people that were able to do it. Do you really think most of the people you find will actually be able to do it? Then theirs the mic issue. Then what if somebody leaves? Raid matchmaking probably won't ever work.

Again, most people you're paired with WON'T be the best, but if in matchmaking, you WILL find more people. Just like every other online shooter. And if you're worried about people quitting or lagging out... MATCHMAKING FIXES THAT TOO. When someone quits in strikes, what happens?... DING DING DING... Someone is MATCHMADE in their place.
-
not always instantly though
-
Of course, no online game has ever been perfect, but I see someone being matchmade in a quiter's place in less than 60 seconds, usually. And I've only seen someone leave once during a boss fight, which is the only time it's caused any kind of a problem for me.
-
the next problem is what if they don't have a mic and don't know the encounters or what position to take because believe it or not some people still don't know how to start heroic events which are a lot easier than raids. for example what if you are at calus and someone keeps punching each psion or cant call out the symbol or at gauntlet where someone runs with being able to make call outs or at pleasure gardens if crystal holder cant make call outs or if the newbie just runs around and gets spotted by the dogs.
-
That is a very good point, and I think I have a solution for it: pre-game lobby. So players can talk with one another before a full room of 6 all decide to start the game. You can see ranks, gear, power levels, and of course... see who has a mic and who does and doesn't know how to run the raid. And you can just back out and restart the matchmaking to find a different room, or host one yourself. Thinking about this really makes me feel hopeful. But, sadly, it's probably not going to happen.
-
in concept thats a good idea but in reality you would most like run into -squeakers -control freaks -trolls -and people who claim they know what to do
-
I think that that's an overtly pessimistic theory. Which you're entitled to, of course, but I think you would find a good mix of both skilled and unskilled players. And hey, weren't we all newbs at first. We learn while we play. And I, for one, am willing to lend a helping hand, like those who did the same for me. Patience is the most useful of virtues.
-
i respect your opinion and your virtues but i speak from experience and my personal experience with groups of randoms isn't that good.
-
Where is this experience? Destiny? Raids?
-
yes. you can check me on raid report if you wish.
-
Well, I'll just trust you, but was it Destiny 1 or 2? And did 2 used to have matchmaking for raids?
-
my experience comes from both and the closest thing to matchmaking in D2 is guided games and it's been around since mid season 1 if my memory serves me if not earlier in season 1.
-
Well, the matchmaking I'm proposing is different from that, and I really think it could work. Though, I may be wrong... It's never happened before, though. (Just kidding... not really)
-
my advice is join a large clan, guided games, and lfg post. best of luck to you

Thanks, I will keep trying, but I have low expectations and minimal hope. You seem like a kind person, by the way. It's rare, especially on Interweb forums.
