The analogy is absolutely useless. Paying more for a faster connection is true for EVERY ISP throughout the history of ISPs.
Besides, what is not included here, is that all of these people are perfectly entitled to go to a burger joint that serves them faster. The fact they don't do this is their own fault.

There's a difference between having a faster speed and having your data prioritized over others.
-
Not from a pricing point of view...pay more=faster because you're paying for it to be prioritised. Again, go down the street where they make the burgers all at once.
-
So it wouldn't bother you if they slowed your internet down for no reason other than that they could?
-
Why would they? I'm paying them not to. Just like I was paying them a year ago not to slow it down.
-
Because they can. I just said that. Now not only can they charge for a basic connection, they can charge not to prioritize other's data over yours, charge you for specific sites, etc. So, why wouldn't they?
-
Because if I don't want them to I don't give them my money. I just use another company.
-
Unless there isn't one.
-
I guess no one gets my money.
