Warframe is a very rewarding game. However, it's not pick up and play friendly. You need to stick at it. I love it. I have thousands of hours invested. I suggest trying it out, it's one of the best games out there.
Learn to mod frames, weapons and companions. It's the one thing that helped me. Ask me anything if you do play it. In fact, there are a few Warframe players here that have heaps of knowledge to help you.

Oh, now I know! At the end of the second part of [spoiler]Sands of Inaros quest you meet like 20-30 Kavats.[/spoiler]. Much better than Orokin ruins!

You can scan them still, it's just a little tricky.

You can scan spooked ones with Frost and snow globe with the mod that slows enemies entering it.
