This benefits absolutely nobody.
I could discuss your points, we could generate feedback, but this last sentence makes it clear: You can't see past your own entitled opinions.
Your posts in the past made me wonder if you even liked this game or the community, but clearly, it's more important that you get satisfaction out of the death of Destiny 2 than for other people to enjoy it.
I am tired of this sort of mentality going on in these (and other game) forums. The disappointed are more important than the satisfied. Angry voices matter more than supportive
Start crusades, watch the forums burn, wish doom upon the game...and alienate the fans who came here to group up, scare away players, silence positive feedback and bury it under a mountain of screaming the same thing over and over.
If all you're wishing for is the chance to fiddle while the game burns, then leave.
You've made your stance clear.
You aren't a fan.
You aren't a critic.
You're just a troll waiting to see the flames.
You have nothing to contribute anymore.

I can go both ways at this point. If they actually turn this around, yay, game's good. If not... Lul.

If not, I'd just move on, really. There's more to life than complaining about a single entertainment product until I get my way.

This **version of the** game deserves to die the slow, bleeding death that it currently is suffering due to developer indifference and stupidity. No one is denying the changes will make the game better. But the failure of D2 was so epic 'better' can be achieved by acting randomly. They needed to show a change of direction that matched the magnitude of their failure. They did not do this. They will not change the systemic problems that make D2 a bad game. I am here because I liked Destiny. I want Destiny to be great. The problem is Bungie does not want Destiny to be great. It has to be a two way relationship and Bungie will not do their part. All we CAN do is watch it burn. I want to support Destiny again, but Bungie keeps lying strait to my face. With this being the case what do you exactly expect my reaction to be?

Well said.

The thing is, rooting for the death of D2 DOES do some good. Perhaps not directly for the franchise but colossal failures of games build around MTX and with low effort that are pushed out way before they're "finished" only to charge players for the future bits that will complete the experience, unfairly expanding the cost of said experience to $120 for $60 of content, that is a good thing to happen in this industry. Battlefront II and Destiny 2 are a clear and important message to publishers and developers that we are not cash cows to be milked with no return or effort. We will not continue buying and rebuying any old crap they dish out and re-hash forever. Eventually they're going to go too far and end up with an E.T. type situation on their hands (ie. the first video game industry crash which almost killed gaming). If you have a few examples like Battlefield II and Destiny 2 that cause such player outrage and total failure of those titles, maybe it will make those developers give a second thought to cramming MTX into their full priced games and releasing half-assed lackluster titles then trying to take a year worth of post launch patches to get it to the shape it should have been in at launch. So yes, D2 totally taking down Bungie could be a good thing for the industry from a gamer's perspective. Sucks from a Destiny fan perspective but it's a self inflicted wound caused by poisonous industry trends that I believe must end.

Amen!

Actually if bungie went under due to microtransactions it would change the business model for gaming to not include that garbage ass tactic. Gamers buy video games to PLAY them, to EARN rewards from putting TIME and EFFORT into it. So why the -blam!- would you buy a microtransactions to cut corners? You bought a game to pay to progress in also? That's -blam!-ing stupid, kinda like everything your inbreed trailer trash living on welfare ass sounded like

Edited by Quetz: 1/13/2018 6:59:09 PM@rainking422 People lose jobs. Fans lose support (and maybe even access due to it being online) to the game they paid for and enjoy. An entire developer goes under and it's projects are scrapped. But it's okay because you save some money from optional microtransactions. This ain't like Battlefield where you can get massive gameplay benefits by spending money. These are mostly cosmetic items that you can already earn through gameplay, with more options to earn them in the future.

Edited by RainKing422: 1/14/2018 7:29:55 AMDo you remember how developers for Atari games got so greedy they were pumping out crap at a rapid rate to the point that consumers lost confidence in the format? The blame E.T. took was excessive, but it was a symbol of a problem that permeated the industry at the time. If not for the rise of the PC and the original NES system, video games as an industry would have died out or become niche. As it was there were a few years there when nothing rose up to take the place of the original consoles. This is history repeating itself. Developers and publishers pulling the kind of crap that EA has with their games and Activision and Bungie have with Destiny are the types of behavors, if allowed to spread, could bring about a second market crash. Oh and by the by, don't try to hand me this "people will lose their jobs". That's an unfortunate possibility, yes. I don't relish that fact. However, if the developer is clearly unable to bring to market a quality product I sure don't feel the need to help keep them afloat with MTX lootbox charity. If developers and publishers put the time and effort into making a complete, well tested, well thought out product then they deserve to stay in business. If they try to cut every corner imaginable and release a shell of an alpha of a product and use every psychological trick in the book to get their customers to buy heavily into their MTX systems so they don't have to actually make content, then hell yes I think they should go under. I don't want a slot machine I want a video game. Oh and let me add...the content in Eververse is cosmetic yes, but it's the FACT that Eververse was an option to supplement their income that made them much more comfortable not properly developing content. They know skewing toward MTX to the detriment of selling worthwhile titles and expansions is going to cost them base game and DLC sales, but it costs them less to make, and if they can supplement the shortfall with MTX they're willing to provide a buggy inferior product as long as a few Guardian whales will buy silver. So yes, Eververse is cosmetic, but the effect it has on the gameplay we're given is immense. Oh and I save A LOT of money from MTX, I've never and will never buy silver. Haven't even played D2 since like October 18th. It's shallow and it bored me. Lots of other great games out there with tons of content that I don't have to spend $20 every 3 months for "expansions" (which are just about the size of a standard DLC offering, tiny for an expansion) and another $40 each anniversary so that at the end of the game's lifespan I've paid $140 for what other games would deliver for $60 content-wise.

With video games having a much wider reach and far greater accessibility (everyone with a basic PC or smartphone has access to hundreds of them), a full crash could only happen if there was some technological catastrophe. Microtransactions aren't gonna kill the industry. That's like saying some bad practices by record labels will kill music. It's too pervasive at this point. And I'd hardly call D2 a shell of a product, I've plenty of games, across multiple console generations, that featured far less content at full price.
-
Edited by RainKing422: 1/14/2018 8:14:22 AMIf enough publishers and developers decide to put just enough effort into their games to get their in-game storefronts running without producing actual worthwhile game content, I do believe that could cause a crash in the console market. PC will always have game developers of all sizes as it's too easy to develop for and to bring to market. But even so, even if MTX don't cause games to die out...is that a game industry landscape that you want to see? Do you want to purchase a game for $60 only to be told that you have to keep sticking quarters into it like an arcade game if you want to keep playing it? Cause honestly if every publisher went the way EA and Activision have gone or are going, I don't imagine I'd stick with gaming anymore. I don't think it's ok to be nickled and dimed to death in a game that I purchased. Oh yeah, and by the by, record labels have been seriously hurt by the ease with which artists can distribute their music themselves without having to jump through the label's BS, so it's hardly like their business model is a sound one to point to as an indicator of stability and prosperity.

D2 is a loot based game which you continue to grind for... drum roll plz... bright engrams! Guns don't really matter due to the current perk system and armor are linear as -blam!- with no varying differences. Basically only the cosmetics set you apart from Hunter a and Hunter b which are locked behind a pay wall purposely. But hey you keep being that uniformed basement dweller casual

”Master Bruce, some men just want to watch the world burn........

@Quetzocoetl Do the people have to be quiet while the game is objectivly peace of early access garbage? This Game is not done and this is already known fact. Without feedback bungie will do nothing and will keep feed the people with a shit.
-
Edited by Quetz: 1/13/2018 6:59:37 PM@psidag Never said people need to be silent, but at this point, this isn't feedback, it's a crusade powered by mob rule. We could have actual discussions on the weapon system, fixed rolls, or crucible. We could make suggestions about the mod system, bounce ideas off each other, make concessions between those who enjoy this game and those disappointed in it. But no, people would rather scream and demand specific changes without consideration of those who may disagree; or in this case, they'll root for the failure of the game without giving a moment to think about anyone who actually enjoys playing it.
-
We have been voicing solid feed back for years now, and that's what made D1 so good at year 3, and after all that feed back and moving forward from what we ended at in D1. now look at D2, all the positive changes, all the advancements gone. Bungie did listen, so what happened too D2?. I'm my opinion they got lazy and greedy, also wiping those last three years of positive community feedback. We are angry and at this point it feels like we're starting back at square one but worse in a way.
-
You're half right. D1, at year 3 was $165 of 1 game and 4 expansions updated over the course of 3 years. D2 is currently sitting at less than 1 year with 1 expansion. Not saying that D2 is perfect, but comparing Y3 D1 to Y1 D2 is a bit disengenous. And I'd hardly say that most of those 3 years were solid feedback built on any sort of civil discussion. Each expansion: an example of Bungie's greed and laziness. Each sandbox update: an attempt to suck the fun out of the game. Hell, I remember the forums burning for a bit during HoW, because people were upset that in the two weeks since it dropped, they hadn't maxed out their gear.
-
To be Honest I never came to these forums up until now. I put up with a lot of back and forth from bungie, but most importantly I was busy having a blast with the game. I am definitely not for the hash tag movement, nor do I promote any kind of mob mentality, but moving beyond some of the negative behavior their are a lot of really good ideas and feedback in here and people are communicating. It doesn't matter where you go your always going to have trolls, and bitter people but that's something I choose to ignore most often unless it's very funny. I'm happy the game is still fun for you, that's great but I feel differently this time around.
-
It's a firefall scenario. The game will die off, hence bungae lost their best composer and story writer all they got now is copy paste halo

Hear, hear!
-
Ahh, I wondered where the rest of the destiny community went. Looks like I found them!
-
I think it's very telling that you take one snippet of his post and dismiss the rest of his claim, of which the majority of the people in here agree, but you're right about one thing though: Seeing Destiny 2 die would benefit nobody. Not even the developers. But before you get your panties in a tissy, perhaps consider that the snippet you took away from that was that he was being a little bit hyperbolic. Moreover, who are you to say what he is or is not? On top of that you decide that he enjoys the satisfaction of the forums and the game burning into the ground as opposed to being supportive. In these circumstances, how can you possibly be supportive of anything Bungie does at this current moment of time? You must be incredibly obtuse to think that what they're doing now is a friendly gesture and a way for them to make it up to us after -blam!-ing up the game again and again. Absurd. Bungie should be harshly criticized for their actions these past few months, and people are sick of their robotic, generated, half-assed apology with zero substance or emotion behind them. I wouldn't even look twice if Destiny 2 did die, and for all intents and purposes it should. Bungie should be made an example out of, because the last thing you want to do is piss off the very people who have been supporting you and giving you their money for the past 3 years with this franchise. Even more, Bungie should be ashamed for tarnishing the legendary reputation that name held when people were thrilled about Halo. This behavior is abhorrent. Get off your high horse, everyone's opinion is valid, and just because you didn't like what mean guy said about your favorite video gaim, doesn't make that opinion any less valid.
-
Nicely stated.
-
Edited by Quetz: 1/13/2018 6:58:22 PM@rokon2 He criticises Bungie, I criticises him. Both are equally valid. The problem with this community (and other games') is that the dissenters show almost no concern for people who want to enjoy the game and foster a healthier community. It's "change the weapon system or I leave" not "let's discuss and brainstorm ways to improve the current system". It's "BRING BACK RANDOM ROLLS!" not "How could the loot be improved?". Honestly, while I am disappointed with some things in D2, I have geniuly found it to be a more enjoyable experience than D1 (despite the fact my opportunities to play are limited as of late). I enjoy the new weapon system, I want to see mods improved and weapon customization rather than random rolls. The few topics I've made or contributed to that had any sort of actual discussion just get buried by duplicate posts made of nothing but entitled fury.
-
You're absolutely right. He can be criticized and in fact he should. I don't agree with some of the things that he said either, but I'm not about to dismiss the guy's entire opinion based solely on one hyperbole. As for the community's black and white thinking of "fix this or this game is dead" that's just the nature of the beast. I accept that it's the way it is but it's absolutely absurd of an idea, and the community should reconsider their own line of thinking because then they'll have a better understanding of the situation from different angles. However, at the same time, Bungie has caused players so much distress and have barely communicated any reason for most of the issues that we've had, so the community's frustration and their hyperbolic opinions are well justified. I would be too, three years and they still haven't gotten their act together. Ridiculous. I'm pretty calm about D2 and have no issues one way or the other, but the kind of shit I've been seeing these past few weeks is laughably pathetic.
