Apparently completing a strike without hanging back and sniping enemies from complete safety was too hard for most people.
Hopefully they leave the Prestige timer alone.

its all going, now youll be rewarded for a point system much like D1. Get the required points and get the gold tier rewards.

Oohh never thought of that, good point keep the prestige timer. Hated the timer at first after 3 years of going through nightfalls slowly but it grew on me and i'll miss it now.
