why do people think having a high body count is something to brag about?
Last night I was chatting up a girl who, through casual conversation (we were both slightly intoxicated) I learned she had a body count of 8.
IMO having a high body count (girls OR guys) just means you can't choose a SO properly. Why don't people understand having a high body count is a turn off?
Not to mention the fact that when a girl has a high body count (only relevant because I don't have sex with men) I'd feel like I'm being judged against the other guys she'd banged.

To say “only you and I have and will have shared this experience and aspect of life” is quite powerful. That’s the deepest level of intimacy. Especially since it’s the most vulnerable thing you can do with another person. It’s not a toy. It’s not meaningless. It’s the foundation of marriage. So to brag about how many you’ve notched under your belt is very corrupted and twisted thinking. For if you truly love your spouse, it’s going to sadden you that either you have given that intimacy and memories and experiences to another or that your spouse gave those away to another and you’ll never share that with him/her.

If the woman you are with is really great at sex, it was because she has had a lot of practice to get there. And I was a bit disappointed the body count wasn't about killing people. It doesn't matter to me how many people someone had sex with as long as they were not cheating on their partner, and that they are now looking for something serious and monogamous. Makes me think of the Kevin Smith movie "Chasing Amy". The main guy was okay with his now girlfriend to have been a lesbian, but couldn't handle that she had an active sex life before meeting him. Because of it he lost someone willing to love him and take him for who he was.

you should update your title, op. and yes for me a woman because less attractive the more sexual partners she had at first. but if you want to settle down and have a long time relationship you should get to your partner and find out if she / he wants the same. dont let that first impression of coming across 'slutty' be the reason you might miss out on what could be a great match for you.

18 RepliesI feel if people just didn’t have sex until they were married then the world might be a little better, less single parents and STDs to go around. I get it’s an old-fashioned notion but it’s one I personally wish people would emulate more often.

I don’t agree with the notion that simply having sex with lots of people should be looked down on, but neither should it be something that you brag about. I don’t really care if you’ve had sex with 1 person or 100 people before you have sex with me, the thing i care about is whether we’re going to treat each other the same. If you just want a hit-and-run scenario then tell me and see if I want the same. There’s nothing worse than only realising you have different priorities after the sex, especially in a hetero situation where one of you might suddenly have a kid to deal with.

1 ReplyThat's not what a "body count" is unless they are leaving a trails of corpses in their wake. As for the question, no I do not believe it is something to brag about. I know a lot of guys did when I was young, and that it still happens today, but honestly to me it means more negative than anything remotely positive. It isn't about conquests or sampling every warm body out there. It's supposed to be about finding the "one". Having a list of past sexual escapades shows more of a lack of commitment and selfishness than anything. It can be a warning sign to any potential suitors as to the mindset of that individual. If they're ok with it, then that's what they can expect. If they're not ok with it, then they should walk away from that person as an option for any long term relationship.
