You hit 305, you're at a soft cap, regardless lol. You're basically saying start at 310(example) do raids and trials and shit to get to 316, assuming the gear that drops is up to 316. Then, cash in luminous to get to 320. Alternatively, cashing in the luminous gets you to 316 then you go and do the grindy stuff, which gives you gear up to 320. Considering all blue engrams from all activities give you up to 330 gear, without mods, you're still doing the same amount of work for the same power level. If you want those exotics that have a slight chance of dropping from luminous to be higher, sure, wait to cash them in. But that's pointless too, because you can just infuse.
