Anyone who has played the full game with a disk, who tries to play without the disk, will have the game put into trial mode until they put the disk back in the console. This is normal. You did not need to delete your characters.

Well if that is true then it needs to state that it is in Trial Mode since it did not state that until after I nuked all my characters. The funny thing is I normally nuke my characters after each DLC to see how the campaign changed, but I usually store my gear on other characters and/or in the vault before nuking my characters.
