Why collect everything? I think 200 vault space is more than enough. A grip of mmos dont even have enough space for you to collect everything for all your toons. Im sure adding vault space isnt easy either. That vault is tied into the app that means they would have to do a ton of work to update the storage for this game. You would have to make sure peoples weapons dont get lost in the process. If people lost their weapons in the process then it would be an outrage more people would be mad that they lost their weapons than people who are mad at the vault space. It took them how long in d1 to get a better vault system? If we had a "legendary locker" than what would ve the point of engrams? That would not only make engrams incredibly underwhelming it would greatly reduce the grind time of this game and bungie doesnt want to do that. Hours logged in is a money making stat. It looks real fancy when you show it to investors and your bosses. Plus i think this game is severely lacking in the grind department which can be good or bad for the player, but always bad for the company.

But most MMOS are MMOS and have tons of content to keep your attention. Why collect everything? You answered your own question...
Plus i think this game is severely lacking in the grind department which can be good or bad for the player, but always bad for the company.
It just gives me something else to do in a game I enjoy the gameplay of. And really.. that's a bail out excuse for a GIGANTIC development studio like Bungie. They could handle it. As for things not getting lost in the process.. Of course that's the biggest concern. One I also pointed out. But that's what testing is for. And they already have these systems in place in other aspects of the game. When you get an emblem you can instantly "store", and it leaves your inventory and goes to the collections.
If we had a "legendary locker" than what would ve the point of engrams? And look at what they are doing. They are taking steps to take the RNG out of it. But that's only a work around, being able to hand select what you are missing/want. I'd honestly take the grind and duplicates over getting specific gear by choice anyday. As, while a grind, it still provides a chase. Them giving ways to pick what you want eliminates that. So in essence.. they are, themselves, actually hindering their "hours logged" stat that you are very fond of. (more so then they already have hurt themselves in this area to start with). And this is because they are desperate to keep players. (Ironic right?) Because so many players have already abandoned D2. By making the game easier, more "accessible". That's the bandaid they are putting on this part of the game, till they try and fix the real reasons why this game is hurting. As for the "value" of legendary engrams. I suppose it's in the eye of the beholder honestly. While I stand behind that I believe they have become underwhelming. I've collected so much that it actually is slight moment when I finally get something I didn't have. That says that the engrams, as they are now, are providing me moments of excitement. Not a lot. But it's something. You'll ask, "But what about when you collect everything? What will legendary engrams be worth then?" To which my reply is... the same as every other engram people didn't like. A little glimmer, weapon materials, and some shards. Lets be real here... How many players actually wait on dismantling a legendary when its under power or a duplicate? And with their new systems coming into play, this is the road they chose for this economy anyways. As they are just making sure players will have access to pick the gear they want and scrap the rest. Engrams aren't useless.. just slightly useless. WaZe
