If people aren’t getting it yet, let’s be clear; Bungie is going to use whatever means at their disposal to manipulate players into making micro transactions, including extremely unethical practices.
This isn’t going to stop - ever. This is who they are.

I hate MTX but at least it's cosmetic based in Destiny, not pay to win like EA tried to do. However I heard a decent defense from EA on this. Some people have more time than money to grind up stats and gear. Some have more money than time and need to be able to buy gear to compete. Not saying I agree, but I slightly understand the logic. I use the work logic loosely there.
-
And here’s why it fails. Some people have money and time, and unless you spend real money, they will own you. You don’t have a level playing field unless you spend money. The more you spend, the more you own.
-
That's true for EA, where you could get powerful gear, troops, etc. On Destiny it's entirely cosmetic, and the only issue is not completing collections
-
...that’s what I’m referring to, because in your post you said you sort of understood EA’s logic on pay to win. Pay to win will never work for games. Trust me. I’m a triathlete. To a great degree that sport is pay to win, because you can buy speed. With a great bike properly fitted to me personally I can gain 2-3 mph advantage over my competitors. If the ride lasts an hour I have a 2-3 mile head start on the run, assuming we started the ride at the same time. If that happens, you won’t see me again until the finish line. If you can’t cough up the dough, you can’t win. That’s just how it is. If that were to happen in a world-wide game like Destiny, Crucible as you know it would be over. Think the balance cries have been loud up to now? Just know, if you decide not to buy gear that’s fine; the people you play against happily will, and you’ll get owned until you cave and buy or quit.
-
Oh I definitely wasn't defending EA, only presenting the singular argument in their own words.
-
you’re describing practically every company in the world...
-
That makes it right. Okay.

This is who they are.
I agree completely except in my opinion (and this isn't backed by facts mind you so i could be wrong) that it is activision rather than bungie so much. Or rather id like to believe thats the case. I think we all would. We all love or at one time have loved the destiny series. I think bungie has heard the outcry and has even addressed it in the xp post. What i didn't like was they said "we arw not happy with the results and xp nerf" like im so confused. YOU MOTHER FUXKERS CHANGED IT TO BEGIN WITH!?!? How are YOU not happy with it? YOUR NOT HAPPY YOU GOT CAUGHT IS MORE LIKE IT!!
-
Right. And thats why i am done dealing with them.
-
Sure is, I'm stumped trying to figure out how people still defend these greedy hacks

Edited by dominator7002: 11/29/2017 11:05:23 AMBecause it's silly to be upset about it. It only applies to levels gained after 20 (AFAIK), and it's only affecting getting Bright Engrams. It's not like we have experience to earn on armors and weapons anymore. So it's Shaders, Ships, Ghost Shells...all mostly cosmetic items. What actual stats/perks the items you can get, do have, is entirely negligible.
-
While I get what your saying and I too could give a shit about XP booster it’s a shady/unethical practice especially when those boosters can be purchased for real coin.
-
Another “it doesn’t matter because they are lying about stuff that doesn’t matter.” Except they are.
-
"It is because I say it is." Wow...compelling. Next you'll tell me I'm a fanboy because I'm "blindly defending Bungie and their "garbage" tactics". If you couldn't figure out on your own why Bungie made it more difficult to earn Bright Engrams after you've already gotten some, then I really have to wonder how you've managed to get by.
But just in case you haven't figured it out; they did it so you'd possibly be more inclined to buy Bright Engrams. A business wants to make money, how novel.
-
And what are bright engrams? D2 loot boxes. If it wasn't a big deal, do you really think Bungie would have said something and changed it so fast? Exactly.
-
You think they wanted to deal with the sh*t-storm that Battlefront II is getting? That's all this is. Pre-emptive damage control. It wasn't a big deal until one person made a video bringing it up; prior to that, literally no one, not a single person, gave a molecular f*ck about their XP gains and Bright Engrams. Reaching twenty is piss easy, and you get, what, a guaranteed three a week from some casual play? What are you really buttmad over? Not being able to get as many Watermelon shaders you want from grinding?
-
Because Bungie has never totally ignored controversy? Lol, have you not been paying attention to D2 since release?
-
Because they're amateurs...
-
Yeah I've been loyal to Destiny since the beginning, but they're soo trash now... They're shooting themselves in the foot, won't listen to the fan base, and screw us over every chance they get....

Somebody up top wasn't raised right!
-
...or rather, Activision. I'd like to believe that Bungie has only become their obedient little bitch. and no, that's nowhere near to be a compliment or defense to Bungo. But if this xp throttling thing is of their own initiative, well the, they do deserve to be burned at the stake.
-
Sorry, but I’m not going to put this on Activision alone. This is all on Bungie, whether the overlords asked for it or not. They are the ones who program the game after all.
-
Yes, they program the game. But still, if their overlords demand them to implement a monetization scheme - just like EA demanded it of DICE in their Battlefront games - they either obey or are destroyed.
