Yeah the XP that you use to fill a meter that when filled gives you a box with a most likely reskined ship, a mod and maybe a shader that suits your interests. I really don't know why people care about this...

Because they want you to spend silver and buy it with real money. Remember that blue flaming skull everybody wanted and spent insane amounts of money on? They didn‘t show the probability that was somewhere in the 1/200reds. They want you to gamble with real money for virtual goods.

Well then let them spend their money then. If their so obsessed with making their characters look cool wasting probably hundreds upon thousands of dollars just to get a piece of armor then that's on them.

No. It‘s not on them. It makes all future games worse, because production studios that make great single player games without loot box/microtransaction get closed down. Big publishers prefer profit for the least amount of content possible over feature rich games. That‘s why you only got two regular crucible modes with only four maps each.
