The game was an mmorpgfps hybrid during D1 Vanilla. The general consensus of people didn't like it. They didn't like the RNG. They didn't like how hard it was to get exotics, like not getting GHorn for 2 years. They didn't like the relic iron scablands farm. They didn't like having to upgrade their guns. They didn't like being told their grenade choice sucked - btw I fully expect every Guardian to only have 1 grenade choice by the time D3 rolls out. They didn't like they had to run VoG to be Level 30. They didn't like being Forever 29. They didn't like not being able to get into a raid group because they were 29 and didn't have GHorn. All of those things Bungie removed, because the players were vocal against them. The majority spoke, or at least the vocal majority, and they wanted no part of the mmorpg thing. So here we are, a looter shooter with a lackluster loot pool.

  • They didn’t like the purples-to-blues, which were completely understandable. A lot of the other stuff could have been fixed with in-game LFG and a clan system that didn’t wait 2 years later to finally come.

  • The thing is, there are ways to help with RNG without gutting the game. More people did VoG trying to get to 30 over the other raids. You can keep the games core MMO experience and have decent ways to help with the rng. You could for prestige mode for every clear get a token, get 4 tokens and you can pick one drop from the raid to get, to help supliment bad RNG. Exotics were complained about, yet they also had excitement to getting them. Exotics maybe fine now, but Bungie may want to consider adding a higher rarity for us to grind for. One that can't be purchased by Xur.

  • The only thing I wanted was a more immersive story to match the lore... By the time The Taken King was released Destiny was a pretty awesome game. If they had just kept most of it in tact and used the development time to tell badass stories and create more unique exotics and interesting ways to get them then Destiny 2 would be 10/10. Destiny 2 isn't awful now, but the end game is driving hardcore players away too soon. Bring back more fun exotics, make prestige raid have it's own loot pool and/or add power levels, strike specific gear, have each Adventure be a 30 minute dig into bits about the lore, Make Loot Caves more complex kinda like Assassin's Creed/Tomb Raider dungeons with unique gear that has a rare drop rate. As for forever 29, I thought the fix for raid drops they dropped in Crota's End where it could read what you had was a better fix than infusing. But if they want to keep infusing they need to allow several mod slots per weapon or piece or armor. I want PVE to be a more serious version of Borderlands exploring all the awesome lore. Then just keep PVP separate if you have to... Don't completely ruin what could be an amazing, immersive experience because people suck at PVP and can't adapt.

  • The fixes people wanted were a more direct path to reach 29 and obtain a weapon like gjallarhorn, instead of having to pray to rngesus on a daily basis. We didn't want the grind to be removed entirely! A simple in game trading system that allowed players to trade gear and weapons at the end of events would have solved everything. My buddy never got a helm to drop for him in VoG, yet I had like 10. If I could have given him one of my duplicates at the end of our runs the problem would have been solved, not make running the raid utterly pointless!

  • "They" "the majority" Sorry but you mean the casual players that don't want an MMO, the impatient people, the ones that can't see how these things you are naming equal longevity. Nobody in my guild complained about these things, nobody I knew complained about these things. Most of them knew what RNG meant, what an MMO type of game was. They knew opening an exotic entree meant that yes...you might actually get a copy of a weapon or piece of armor you already have because that's the way the world works and you can't be a cry baby about it, but you have to try again. People who wanted everything immediately ruined the game. Grinding to 30, grinding to 320, were the most epic and the most rewarding times of the game. Period.

  • Yep the majority of console players are casual players that wouldn't like a mmo. Fun fact original destiny was only on consoles. Its biggest flaw imo

  • He said vocal majority. What part of that was confusing to you?? Also, he's objectively correct. These forums were filled with people whining about exactly everything he said.
