Base Power too low. Really???

Since the very first week of the game I've noticed an issue when trying to upgrade equipment. For instance I pulled a 299 autorifle from an engram and had another autorifle at 292 I intended to upgrade but got the message "Base Power too low" tagged on the 299. It doesn't add up and I've noticed it intermittently throughout the entire time I've been playing D2. Is there a specific reason, or has this even been reported?

I think you have your numbers mixed up. The only time I've ever seen base power too low is when I tried to use something with a mod on it as infusion fuel. I always compare the base levels of both the item for infusion and the fuel.

    • Can you provide a video of this occurring?

      • When you see "base power too low" it is because there is a purple mod in it. The purple mod gives plus 5 power, therefore the base power is actually 294 if the weapon is 299. You must have your numbers wrong, because you would have been able to bring a 292 up to 294.
