I was thinking about being a capitalist for Halloween. I have a collection of candy from generations and generations of hoarding the candy. I have more candy than I could ever eat, especially because my family owns the candy company. I'm not going to give out any candy to trick-or-treaters because that would only justify them asking for candy and make them more dependent. If they want candy they should have to work for their candy like I did, or start their own candy company.

Accurate.

You'd have to go as a specific person who represents the face of capitalism

lets play spot the commie
-
lets play spot the commie
Acknowledging the faults of capitalism does not make one a communist.
-
I guess you’re just a mean person who only wants to capitalize on greed and not compassion which would make you a bad capitalist and probably not make much money.
I guess you’re just a mean person who only wants to capitalize on greed and not compassion which would make you a bad capitalist and probably not make much money.
No, capitalism runs on greed, not compassion.
-
If you run on nothing but greed and gimme, gimme, gimme, then you won’t be successful as a business. People will not work with you if you cheat them or treat them poorly.
If you run on nothing but greed and gimme, gimme, gimme, then you won’t be successful as a business. People will not work with you if you cheat them or treat them poorly.
Yes, it works great to be greedy. Very successful business people don't get to where they are by being nice - they succeed by screwing other people over. Look at the obscenely rich oil companies who doctor reports on climate research - they're -blam!-ing over the whole planet by pretending fossil fuels aren't destroying our world.

Same for socialism.
-
Same for socialism.
That does t really make sense. If the people own the means of production, wouldn't they do what benefits the people most, rather than what is best for CEOs?
-
People dont own the means of production in socialism the goverment does, the goverment decides what should be made and what shouldnt. you should go to cuba then you will be praising capitalism, which has very little goverment interference, and the people decide what should and shouldnt be made and how much as well as the price. Plus nobody wants to lose 90% of their pay just so the goverment can keep 80% and redistribute the other 70% to people who dont try for anything.
-
The people dont own the means of production, the government does.
-
That's not the definition of socialism, your talking about state socialism. Socialism- workers own the means of production.
-
Except every time socialism is implemented the workers don’t own them, it’s always the government.
-
Every example of unfettered socialism confirms the opposite of that statement. Venezuela being the most extreme current example.
Every example of unfettered socialism confirms the opposite of that statement. Venezuela being the most extreme current example.
And unregulated capitalism has done so well, right?
-
“The world runs on individuals pursuing their separate interests. The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus. Einstein didn’t construct his theory under order from a bureaucrat. Henry Ford didn’t revolutionize the automobile industry that way. In the only cases in which the masses have escaped from the kind of grinding poverty you’re talking about, the only cases in recorded history, are where they have had capitalism and largely free trade. If you want to know where the masses are worse off, worst off, it’s exactly in the kinds of societies that depart from that.”
-
No, capitalism runs on greed, not compassion.
.....as if any form of government in the past, present or future runs on compassion.
