Microsoft made Windows and Xbox coding very similar, so it's easier for games to be ported to PC Steam is a massive, extremely popular PC game distributor, and if you think with market sense, selling a game through that kind of platform is the best move to make.

 • Not exactly. The architecture of the PS4 and XB1 are pretty similar. Getting an XB1 or PS4 game to the PC isn't exactly a big hurdle. The real reason is business. Most likely, as Cuphead is not a Microsoft game, it will come to PS4. Microsoft made some sort of financial or marketing agreement with the developer. In these agreements, whether it's with Sony or Microsoft, both parties might add a clause that the PC version can release next or simultaneously with the console version and that the version for their rival console has to be released last. It could also be in some cases where indie devs have limited staff, focus on PC development, and make a marketing deal with a console manufacturer to port a version to their console first.

 • Nope, the devs confirmed Cuphead isn't coming to PS4.

 • This is where you need to learn to read PR. Having seen enough developer PR talk about console ports in my lifetime you can know when doors are open and doors are closed. I know the quote you're talking about. It goes something like this: "Is Cuphead coming to PS4?" "Cuphead is an Xbox and PC exclusive. We own the IP." Contractually in these types of arrangements this is what you have to say. Nowhere will you find the developers stating flat out "Cuphead is not coming to PS4." What you see is evasive language that creates the impression that it isn't unless you stop and think about what is actually being said. I have seen this scenario play out countless times. Does this confirm Cuphead is coming to PS4? No. But it doesn't shut the door on the possibility.
