I don't mean to speak out of place, but chances are the gear you currently have has a Legendary Gear Mod on it. The 'Powerful' gear you just acquired should have a higher Base Power. Legendary Mods simply increase the gears overall power, not the base power. And apologies if I'm misunderstanding you here, but Power has no effect on gameplay in Crucible outside of the Iron Banner.

  • Powerful gear is supposed to be higher than your period level period with or without the mods. And competitive crucible enables power levels.

Thats in fact, NOT how powerful engrams work. They drop gear scaled comparatively to your highest possible Base Power using all gear in your characters inventory / vault inventory. Gear can not be higher then 300 without a Legendary Mod equipped on it. I guarantee you, you can infuse that 300 Gear you got from the Engram into your current "301" gear and it will end with a total of 305 Power. And no, Competitive Crucible does not enable level advantage.
