You and many others seem to be missing the point. The point of the timers is that it makes the nightfall annoying, not difficult, and not fun. Make it challenging through the difficulty and challenge of the enemies, not by some arbitrary timer that forces you to disregard all situational awareness and sprint to the end. If that’s your thing, you can still do that.
The enemies should be as difficult on the regular nightfall as they are in the prestige. If everyone in your fire team is dead, it should be a wipe with no checkpoints. If you need to take an hour to complete it, in order to exercise caution and kill all the enemies, so be it. If you want to speed run it, they can add a timer to the prestige, or you can try to run like a maniac through the regular nightfall as your choice of style.
Nothing in this game is challenging, but there is a lot of it that is annoying, and not fun. Many feel as I do, and want a challenge, and to have fun, not activities placed in front of us as a task to complete like a chore.

You don't have to sprint at all... not this week. Kill stuff,, shoot anomalies for time and kill the boss. I've done it 4 times already this week. The "sprint through" argument is laughable at best. At least 60% of people in D1 sprinted past everything in strikes. Now the same people complain if they have sprint past a section. You can't sprint start to finish. Git Gud or Go Home.

pseudo shameless plug, but: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/234393732?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1 The timer does add a challenge, but it's not a compelling one. I would rather fight enemies than fight the clock. And, as mentioned in the linked post, I think there are plenty of ways to do that without losing the difficulty of the Nightfall. Basically: It should be hard, but it should be differently hard.

https://youtu.be/6h4xK8BjwSc?t=2m26s
i would not try to rush through anything at all, be diligent about killing [anomalies and adds] and enemies in each zone before pushing through. take your time clearing areas i promise it will be worth it.
Edited by jnikoley: 10/5/2017 12:23:28 AMI don’t need a tutorial. The timer doesn’t make it difficult. All it does, is force you to speed through the strike with disregard for your own life. I would prefer to exercise caution against powerful enemies that could kill me easily if I were to be careless. That’s my idea of “fun”. I actually enjoyed soloing night falls that were difficult, and taking my time, as opposed to what we have now. I have no interest or desire to play destiny 2 as it has been presented for us to play it. Vanilla destiny one night falls were all prestigious, difficult, and fun. Nothing like we have now…

i didn't link you the tutorial to help you. i linked you the tutorial to show you that one of the first tips he gives is to take your time and kill everything while you are on about rushing through and skipping enemies. also, nightfalls never should have been soloable. it's endgame content, it should be challenging with 3.
