I finally found a Hand Cannon that I actually really enjoy in Destiny 2!
So, I [i]liked[/i] Hand Cannons in D1.
They were a nice break from the normal Scout Rifles I'd usually run with, but they never performed well enough to be my "go to" weapon class.
In Destiny 2, I've found pretty much every Hand Cannon that I would find to be severely lacking when compared to the efficacy of HC's in D1, thus I wasn't using HC's in D2 except as infusion fodder.
All that changed last night when I found the Sun Shot.
Holy. Shit.
This particular Hand Cannon is fun as hell!
It's an Exotic Energy Weapon Solar Hand Cannon. It's got a sub-2-second reload, it fires fast, it's accurate (even at range), and it hits... well, it's a goddamn nail driver.
Plus, it has the Firefly effect, but without the necessity for a Crit to proc the Firefly effect! As long as you kill the enemy, you still get the Solar explosion, even if you kill them with a body shot.
To wrap this up, this is one of the rare weapons that give me hope for this game.
Don't change a single goddamn thing about this Hand Cannon, Bungie! It's perfect "as is", because it's [i]FUN[/i]!
If any of you find it (I got mine from a Chest at the end of an Adventure on Io), I think you'll love it. :)

It's a throwback to one of the favorite hand cannons from the original game, called the Judith-D. Has the exact same feel and even the sound. Once you can, try it out. It's more of a hand cannon than any other hand cannon in the game

1 ReplyIn Destiny, hand cannons were never my go to gun. That sure has changed in Destiny 2. Sunshot is awesome...my favorite weapon right now, and hand cannons in general, like Old Fashioned and Bad News are a blast to use. My fear is that someone is going to nerf hand cannons in general, especially Sunshot, because that's what they do. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah I love the sunshot, i was a hand cannon hoarder in d1 but this d2 selection of hand cannons isnt looking particularly promising so far

I absolutely agree. Sunshot is ust pure fun in PvE. Granted- there might be many weapons with faster time to kill-time, but who cares. I was in party with two other guys using the same weapon and I tell you- we literally burned our way through the field. Pun intended 😎

4 RepliesLove that gun in PvE. Even my brother who is not a fan of hand cannons is having a blast with it. I hope "for the love of god" that they leave this gun alone. I can't help hearing Mr. Torgue from Borderlands 2 saying "EXPLOSIONS" everytime I use it.

2 RepliesI am somewhat disappointed but not surprised. I was hoping that jungle would bring back Ace of Spades(the best PvE primary ever!) Back to Destiny 2. But I guess not also shout out to the ghost angel cloak from D1 in my opinion the best cloak in the game. Stylish sexy and a obvious reference to the dark souls series one of my personnel favorites. Bungie if you love me bring back the ghost angel cloak🤣

I really loved the better devils handcannon in the PC beta. Got it last night and I just don't like it anymore. Maybe it's because I was using a mouse and keyboard idk

Now with its element trick I want it sooooo bad. But for now Sunshot is my lover. Honorable mention to MIDA and Nameless Midnight (the god of legendary scout rifles).

Get better with the worst exotic. Not that it'll get buffed but it'll be the last thing to get nerfed.

I use the Sunshot all the time. It is my favorite weapon in the game as of now. Bungie will nerf it because people enjoy it though. The change will be: - Solar Conductor: "Enemies will explode when taking solar damage from an enemy"

2 RepliesI've had similar luck with sidearms so far. Found a primary from hakke and a secondary sidearm that actually feel fun. The primary is good and punchy and the secondary has a good RoF to go with its 3 round burst, so neither feel like a chore to shoot.

10 RepliesI laughed out loud when u said Destiny 1 hand cannons never performed that well.. since the AR's and Vex tot nerfed wat at the beginning of has been pretty much a 2 and a half years of hand cannon meta. I guess you missed the part there Thorn, Hawkmoon, Last Word, Eyasluna and Palindrome were the absolute kings all over pvp.
