I understand it varies state to state but from what I understand in my state of someone applies for EBT or any of those and have kids they hit the father(s) up to help pay some of it back to the state. I see it more as for the kids than helping out a piece of shit parent. Like you're open about your past. Say that's how you were now, neglected your daughter because of it and received these benefits. While I'd have certain negative feelings towards you, I'd think your daughter shouldn't be punished for it. I don't see it as helping you (in this hypothetical situation), I see it ad helping her.
