Have you tried binding the scroll up to weapon slot 1 and scroll down to weapon slot 2?
Not sure if possible but worth a shot and would be the solution to your preference issue.

ill try it later but i usually just think of scrolling in whatever direction to get to the other weapon, if somebody comes around the corner i don't wanna think about which way to scroll you know.
