So I wonder if the blast that pushed back the darkness is what attracted the fallen. Or maybe even the cabal? If the fallen we're looking for all signs of the traveler then suddenly got a huge spike of light then that certainly would attract them. It makes more sense then them just randomly stumbling upon us. Same with the cabal.

It makes sense that the Fallen somehow got a trace of the Traveler that lead them to us, but for the Cabal it is almost certain that our system just so happened to be the next mark in their path of expansion
