I didn't get around to play Dragon Age 2 and didn't feel like I missed anything. I just read a summary of the plotline.

Good idea. The only reason I got DA:2 in the first place was cuz I wanted to romance Anders or Sebastian. Then I got lost in the plot XD (AKA, I liked the game for more than its romances).
