The world won't end.
We will, but the Earth will live on because it's a -blam!-ing space rock... until the Sun goes Supernova in a few billion years and incinerates it.

The sun won't go supernova. In 4 to 6 billion years the sun will expand into a "red giant" and incinerate us so basically it won't be any better than a supernova but once the red giant phase is over the sun will become a dwarf star

Either way, we'll all die in a few billion years thanks to the one thing that gives us light.

We have at least 4 billion years till that happens

Long-ass time either way... Then again, one well-placed Solar Flare will kill us all.
