Why do you want to go directly up to the big guys? Is there an issue you have that mayhaps a Mentor could assist you with solving?

My progress in destiny from my ps3 did not transfer over to my ps4. is there any advice you can offer me?

Have you already transferred progress to the PS4 once before? If so, that's a one-time thing. Any new progress made on PS3 after that will not transfer.

I'm not sure, I purchased my ps4 3 months and I'm still learning things about it. So my pocket infiniti is gone? That's the only weapon I regret losing. Is there any way to get a new one? Or in year 3?

You can still get pocket infinity from y1 activities and from special weapon legacy engrams that xur sometimes sells.

If you already moved your progress from PS3 to PS4, and got that afterwards on the PS3, it will not transfer.
