Decent, but you could do more for less money if you built one.

  • I agree. I haven't clicked the link from OP, but more people should look into building their own PC. It really isn't that hard. It's fun. You get total control over what goes into it. It's much less expensive. The hard drive isn't filled with crap that the stores load onto it. Just make sure the parts are compatible and you're good to go.

  • That's the problem I don't know what works with what. And 900 I don't think is too bad.

  • PCPartPicker is literally exactly for that.

Research on the internet about each step of the way. Look into each part and figure out what works for you. Once you find the part you want do a google search to see what parts are compatible with it. Start with the CPU. Heat sink Then see which motherboards work with the CPU. Narrow down your search with how many USB connections, and card slots you need. Next figure out what RAM fits the board. Pick your video card Hard drives and disk drives Figure out the power you need for a power supply. Case that's compatible with the motherboard Fans Operating system Monitor. I believe there is a sight called pcpartpicker or something that can help you see what works with what. It's nice learning and knowing about everything you are getting. Everything is there because you picked it. It's streamlined to exactly what you want, and my favorite part is that the hard drive isn't filled up with crap the stores sell you. Edit: It's cheeper too. You could pocket the saved money or use to get more ram, larger hd, or better graphic card.

  • It really isn't. If you aren't having your hand held you can get lost in the process. I know because I've researched it thoroughly on multiple occasions, and it always ends in frustration.

  • You can still have one built for you from the ground up for cheaper than the pre-built ones. Go to website, select your parts from a list, they build it and ship it. That method is still cheaper than getting a pre-built one.

  • I'm aware, that wasn't my point. This guy was making it seem like it's simple to do yourself, which just is not the case for a lot of people.
