A big problem is collectors that oay stupid amounts of money for these cars that they wanted when they were kids. Then you have people like Gas Monkey that take a junker, spray clear coat over rust & call it "patina". No moron, you just sealed cancer into the body, great job, but hey, go ahead & add another $10k to the price.
Certain cars will always be popular, but if you take a cool car & make it awesome, collectors will start clamoring for those & the price on the cars like the Mustangs, Chevelles & Chargers will come down. Then you can trade your sweet build for someone elses & maybe have them throw some cash on as well!

I'm tired of seeing good vehicles left in half finished condition.
Mustangs, Chevelles & Chargers will come down.
We're long past those days. They're not going to ever come down. Sooner rather than later, all the 60-80's bodies will be either gone or used, and there won't be any hope of finding one.

I remember when everyone was dropping a Chevy 350 in everything, then Barrett-Jackson came out & said that was stupid because everyone sells am excellent crate motor these days & you are lowering the value whrn you do that. That stopped a lot of it, though some people still do it.
We're long past those days. They're not going to ever come down. Honestly, I am waiting for a company like Year One to start offering actual complete aftermarket bodies. There are a few that do the old ass rides like the 32 Fords & whatnot.

You can buy a complete unibody and panels for a '67 Mustang made from refurbished original parts presses right now. Getting correct panels is a real issue and would inhibit anyone if the old press forms were destroyed. Aftermarket panels are never quite right Creases and rolls are in the wrong place, not sharp enough, panels are too long or not contoured enough. Most 32's I see anymore are all fiberglass monocoques with a couple doors and a trunk lid.
-
There are a few companies that make steel-bodies of the 32's. We have been using Year One & LMC for years and no real complaints. We have had a few bad panels, but they have swapped them no problems.

The rusted patina is actually sought after for some collectors. Mainly the rat rod type.
-
Yes it is & that does not change what that "patina" does to your ride.

Well it all depends on where it is located and how bad it is. Also by clear coating it you can stop the rust. No oxygen = no rust
-
You can't stop rust with clear coat. Clear coat on rust will come off, because it is basically dust that is not connected to the metal.
-
Like I said, depends on how bad the rust is. Surface rust is no problem. But if it goes deep then you cannot
-
I want a charger a black one with red stripes and a cool decal...do bad I can't afford one for the next 10ish years
-
What year model?
-
No idea I haven't really looked into it since I'm still in high school
-
Well 1968-1972 all look the same, basically, except the 68 has round taillights. This is the style you see on the Dukes of Hazard or like Dom's Beast. 1973 & 74 look a bit different, then they get butt ugly, lol. Then in the 2000's they came back as a 4-door.

Agree on the gas monkey part. 20k paint job isnt just black paint with clear coat. 60k for a rusted f100 because its "the shop truck".
