I'm surprised that a lot of people ( on these forums ) didn't like the trailers since that was the thing that convinced me to give the film a chance.
I went in with very low expectations ( by the time I got to see it, all the reviews were out and the consensus was that it was crap ) and I walked away thinking that it was much better than all the reviews said it was. It wasn't great, heck I probably wouldn't even call it good, but it wasn't bad either, it was just kind of there, existing on plane of mediocrity.
I did walk away from it with a strong urge to re-watch the 1999 Mummy film, which I did. That kind of highlighted a lot more of the 2017 film's shortcomings, why re-make something if you can't top the thing your trying to re-make?

Edited by Catty_Wampus22: 6/20/2017 1:48:00 AMTjey have to make something every so often or they lose the property rights. That's why they filmed that Roger Corman Fantastic Four. They never intended that to come out but if they didn't do it they would've lost the rights. Or maybe they thought this was a better story to start this universe with. They have no plans on doing a Dracula film but Bride of Frankenstein is coming out in 2019 (starring Javier Bardiem or whatever) then the Invisible Man with Johnny Depp and I think I read creature from the black lagoon and wolfman are in various forms of pre production.
