When I first preordered Destiny, I was under the impression that this was a 10 year franchise in which we'd be able to carry over characters and weapons and other shit. I guess I was way wrong.

Shouldn't assume anything unless it is clearly communicated to you.

You made the fatal mistake of assuming Activision wouldn't be a greedy company. They beat ea on the bs level and that's saying something. Activision values $> a consistent and fun experience

Same here. I was hoping for a WOW concept where they would upgrade the game with better stuff and expanding on the universe. Man was I wrong. You want game? You buy. You want expansions? You buy. You want emotes? You buy. ''We are finally expanding Destiny into Destiny 2!'' Great let me give you guys some money for new stuff right? ''Absolutely, but everything else is gone..'' Wait wa.. but my shaders? my weapons from year one? my emblems? My legend? ''Gone.'' Great.. see you in D2 I guess..

No, it's a franchise where memories are made, but your weapons are now considered Artifacts and are sent to dipshit hell.
