Well, close, but not exactly. You see, a box canyon is exactly what it sounds like; a squarish-shaped canyon that is accessible by a smaller, narrow canyon. Native Americans would heard buffalo and other such animals into them, because once they had them trapped in the box canyon, there was literally nowhere to escape to, and they could simply rain down arrows from above. So, while the Villagers can't get out of it, the Fallen can't sneak up from behind them either. They have to come through the main mountain pass.
