You can't die (or wipe if a fireteam) prior to reaching the door up to the Ketch or the door will not be open. Then upon opening the last door into the Ketch (as with the Taniks strike) you have 10 minutes to complete the mission.

We didn't die. But that door that usually leads to Taniks is where ghost says that stuff

Edited by zNapSack: 5/29/2017 4:08:27 AMYes, it's known to glitch and not be open regardless of the time it took to get there. It was long thought by many, and still is by some, that there is a time limit within which you must get to that door for it to be open. However, that is not the case. The only requirement is you can not die if solo or, if in a fireteam, you can not wipe.
-
you have to be as fast as possible if you take to long you will have to start again
-
I've done it many times, both before and after it had to be the daily heroic story. However, I'm no longer going to try and convince anyone that isn't the case. I'll let other sources do so instead. Meanwhile, go ahead and try to find a reliable source, eg. a gaming website, that states there is a time limit within which one must get to the door leading up to the Ketch. I'll wait...
-
Would you consider reddit to be reliable?
-
Edited by zNapSack: 5/29/2017 5:26:04 AMReddit is still an Internet forum and although it's very good at times it can be very bad as well. I have yet to find a reliable gaming website that states there is a time limit. And to my knowledge neither has Bungie. Therefore, it must be categorized as hearsay, in my opinion. I can tell you (and unlike The Speaker, I am) that I've tested it with a stopwatch on multiple occasions, both solo and with a fireteam. I've arrived at the door after 8 minutes and it was OPEN. I've arrived there in 6+ and it was closed. I've arrived there in 4:52 or so and it was closed. However, more often than not it's been open, regardless of the time. Hence, I claim it can glitch since I have no other explanation for it.
-
Do you know what the longest (roughly) it was for you to get there and have it still open?
-
Edited by zNapSack: 5/29/2017 5:32:29 AMI didn't keep a record but as I recall it was close to 8 mins. One time we got there and it was closing as we ran up to it although I don't recall the time. Actually my friend said "It's closing!" just as we were running up that slight slope right before the door but I was looking in a different direction and didn't see it closing myself.
-
Yes. From all the former posts I've seen (on the app and other sites), the limit is around 8-10 mins roughly. That's, of course, if the player/team doesn't wipe.
-
Indeed. You absolutely can't wipe, or die if solo. That's a fact. But as I said, I've reached the door in less than 5 mins and it was closed. I've reached it in 8 and it was open and at other times it was closed. So, is it random? Is it a glitch? I don't know. But I do know it doesn't appear to be on a precise timer that's working properly.

Edited by dc213baseball: 5/29/2017 5:44:02 AMTrue. And no one really knows if the timer starts once mission starts or from taking shard (although i feel the consensus is from taking shard). But we can agree that there is a timer in place that causes the door to close, so it's not unlimited.

Edited by zNapSack: 5/29/2017 4:38:54 AMAllegedly there is a way whereby you don't have to open the last door that requires three Tomb Husks. Instead, go left after opening the door that requires two Tomb Husks and there is supposedly a secret passage (lit by a Hive crate) which takes you to the area leading to Tanik's Ketch. Anyone ever heard of this? I've taken many groups through the mission both before and after it was the daily story and I'm not aware of this. Note: this may have been true only when it was required that Lost to Light be the daily heroic story in order to obtain The Black Spindle.

Edited by IcyHydrus: 5/29/2017 5:44:58 AMI finally got my Black Spindle in year 3 so I'll say what I did I chose the mision by going over the moon the selecting the mision and choosing the hard version. then I ran straight to Baxx (no fighting). Once I killed him I ran as fast as i could. i did the first two rooms but when it came to the third room I ran straight to the door and I got in. (then I got the gun (all solo)) then a month or so ago I was going it with some friends the same way as before but we killed all the enemies and the door was closed, we did it again but as fast as possible and the door was open to Tanik's Ketch I'm not saying you're wrong anymore but I'm saying how most people have done it in year 3. also i have taken many people to get the too but that doesn't really prove anything. (i also help people with getting No Time To Explain but that's quite different)

Edited by zNapSack: 5/29/2017 6:07:37 AMCongratulations! It's a great rifle!. I know I/we've got there in ~4:34, ~4:52 and ~5:12, etc and it's been open some times and closed other times. All of which are less than the alleged time limit. Furthermore, I have not found a well known gaming website such as IGN or Planet Destiny (or any other gaming website that I visited) etc, which claims there is a time limit. Nor do I recall Bungie saying there is a time limit. It could be there is some other criteria which determines weather or not it's open but that's merely speculation. In any case, although I can't speak for anyone else, would like a definitive answer from Bungie,

True, although pretty much know one has been bothered to talk about it other than when it came out so... there isn't enough info to go anyway
