Sony paid more, but it was a year 2 strike, so why didn't it come in year 3?

The deal was for Y2 exclusives to remain exclusive until D2 came out. Then D2 was delayed from its 2016 release (RoI was made in less than a year and released instead), so the exclusives were delayed as well.
