Still doesn't explain why the sun sets at all, it should just disappear from view if it was overhead. If it went under the horizon on a flat earth, the world would go dark which doesn't happen.

  • I think he means that if the world was flat, than it would be the same time in every country, which it is not. In England, it's the middle of the night, but for me, the sun is still bright and shining.

  • The sun is much brighter and bigger than a flashlight. You can see lots of other less bright things from much more than 5 miles though. Still doesn't explain why the sun ever goes below the horizon at all. With your theory, it shouldn't no matter what since it's always above us.
