I hate burst your bubble, but that's exactly what a meta indicates; that there are weapons and abilities you should select because they are better then the rest thus providing the path of least resistance.
-
Not really. People that don't have good aim are better off using an auto rifle instead of a hand cannon.
-
If they have bad aim use an auto rifle, a weapon type that requires you to sustain a line of sight to an opponent and thus requiring to aim at opponent for longer. Care to make some sense?
-
I don't know how to make it any simpler than it already is. If you miss a shot with an auto rifle, it's easy to make up for it, but hand cannons punish you for missing shots.
-
Let me try to make simpler for you: Current player usage of primaries: Auto rifles 9.82% Hand cannons 45.22% Pulse rifles 20.9% Scout rifles 24.06% So if auto rifles are easier to use why are so few people using them?

Refer to my 1st comment.

So your just going to do the same thing ever time, deny factual information tell me I'm wrong and then when you backed into corner start stomping your feet say I don't know what I'm talking about then stop responding because you don't like the truth?
-
I didn't deny any factual information, say you were wrong, say you didn't know what you were talking about, or stomped my feet. You literally cited the meta in response to me saying meta doesn't mean better, so I can't reply with anything besides what I already said.
-
The term meta game often referred to simply as the meta is a mathematic descriptor for set interaction governing subset interaction. In simple terms, it is the use of out-of-game information or resources to affect one's in-game decisions. You're literally arguing that the meta isn't the meta and that the meta doesn't mean that certain weapons are mathematical superior which is exactly what the term means.
-
I'm arguing that everyone is different, & this current meta isn't indicative of a necessity for hand cannons so much as people just following the herd. I hardly ever use hand cannons in the crucible & I do fine. I even use thorn, whose archetype isn't part of the current meta, when I'm doing the hand cannon quartermaster bounty & do fine with it.
-
Low impact hand cannons have TTK of 0.80 second(s) the reason you're not seeing the thorn a lot is because of the roll and stats with a 50 for range and 45 aim assist, well the palindrome is a medium impact with a possible range of 62 and aim assist of 70 followed with TTK of 0.87 second(s). TTK Medium impact pulse: 1.00 Medium impact auto: 0.90 High impact auto: 0.93 Medium impact scout: 1.00 Low impact scout: 0.90 Lowest impact scout: 0.93 Top four weapons by kill percentage Ice Breaker: 22.21% The Palindrome: 15.27% The wormwood: 8.84% Eyasluna: 6.69% The thing about math and metadata, meta gaming, and the meta by extension thereof is quite something; you see the math proves a point, an opinion doesn't. The math says certain weapons are the better choice, someone points this out, and the herd moves to those weapons that is how a meta works; the meta is always about the path of least resistance.
-
The math says that thorn has a better TTK, but the meta is the palindrome archetype. That's exactly my point.
-
So you took one number from that and then proceeded to ignore the rest to try make your opinion sound valid.
-
You literally just said the math proves something & opinions don't. I used the math you provided & left my opinion out of it.
-
No, you used a single number to justify your opinion after I gave you an equation. Two very different things.
-
What equation?
-
Variable a) TTK, variable b) max range, variable c) aim assist, variable d) weapon archetype. If you only acknowledge the TTK you then the weapons effective combat, the ease of use generated by aim assist, the damage output based on archetype. Low impact hand cannons require two headshots for their TTK, medium require one.
-
That's not an equation, bud.
-
So you know neither what noun is or a mathematical equation is? Brilliant I'm either attempting to have conversation with a troll or the world's greatest idiot.
-
Neither, but I'll leave it alone since you can't have a conversation without resulting to insults. Have a good day, bud.
